About Scale Back
Alabama
.......................................................................................................................................
Now in its fourth year, Scale Back Alabama is a statewide
weight-loss contest that started in January 2010. The purpose of the
10-week contest is to encourage Alabamians to lose weight, to exercise and to
have fun while doing it. Last year's campaign drew more than 40,000 people
in almost every county with a cumulative reported weight loss of almost 200,000
pounds.
The campaign is geared toward adults and is primarily operated
with the help of local employers (companies with 10 employees or more),
hospitals and health departments. Each organization appoints one person to
serve as the contact for the contest. Called
the organization coordinator, this individual will have access to a
comprehensive toolkit with everything needed for hosting a contest locally and
serving as a weigh-in site. There is no charge for participating in the contest,
and teams are eligible to win statewide prizes (click
here for more information about the prizes). Videos featuring coordinator training and weigh-in site information are available
online. For details on how to view those videos, please refer to the "Coordinator
Training" section below.
If you’d like to participate as the organization
coordinator, send an e-mail to info@scalebackalabama.com.
Please provide the name of your organization and the number of employees.
You will receive a reply with a link to register as a coordinator and
access additional information on the “Coordinators Only” section of the
Scale Back Alabama Web site. If you have specific questions, you can e-mail info@scalebackalabama.com.
