How To Join

Important Notice: Last Day To Join

The 2014 contest is underway! Friday, January 24 was the last day teams could go to a weigh-in site for their initial weigh-in and to register for Scale Back Alabama 2014. If you did not get signed up for the 2014 contest, we'd like to encourage you to utilize Health Tips and Resources on this website and do the contest on your own or with friends.


Scale Back Alabama participants must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Be on a team of four individuals (no more, no less!)

To join the contest, you and your team can go to the weigh-in site nearest you during Weigh-In Week to register and get your starting weight. Registration takes place during Weigh-In Week only. There is no cost to participate in Scale Back Alabama.


Scale Back Alabama teams must be made up of four people – no more, and no less! All team members will be asked to weigh in (and weigh out) together at the same weigh-in site at the same time. If someone on your team is from another part of the state, make sure they can be with your team at those times.

Teams must begin and end the contest with the same members – no substitution is allowed. If a team member drops out for any reason, the team will be disqualified from the grand prize drawing. However, individuals who lose at least 10 pounds will be eligible for individual prizes.

Don’t forget to choose a team captain and a team name! Each year we hold a contest for the best team name, with a prize to the winners!
